The Way Energy Flows

This past week, Dahn Yoga members in the Colorado Region had the pleasure of welcoming Senior Instructor Chung Suk.  Chun Suk has earned the respect of being called “Senior” because he is a 25 year practitioner of Dahn Yoga who has devoted his time graciously to learning and teaching Dahn Principles through trainings and workshops, such as Position Therapy, Meridian Self-healing, and Ki gong. As a pre-instructor of the Dahn Yoga practice, I feel so privileged to have trained with someone who can use their will to sincerely and joyfully deliver the principles of this practice.

There were five special trainings that were offered this week: Basic Position and Alignment, Intensive Position and Alignment, Ki Gong, Intensive Dahn-jon Breathing, and Meridian Education. I benefitted greatly from all the trainings, but the ones that left an impression on me were the Position and Alighment training.

In the basic and intensive Position and Alignment trainings members experienced how to realign their own and others’ bodies so they may improve their overall condition. The basic training focused on Dahn Yoga principle: “where your mind goes energy follows.” After members were taught this principle they performed several postures that would help them develop their sense of energy within their body, and ultimately their sense of how to communicate with their body. The intensive training built upon the basic training by going deeper on  how members can assess others’ condition. Here members were guided to look at the importance of posture and were taught several techniques to assess and correct that posture. For instance, learning to correct the length of an individual’s legs so the flow of energy and blood circulate better.

These two trainings included new and veteran memebers, instructors, and practitioners from around the region. Throughout these particular trainings, I was consistanly impressed with Senior Instructor Chung Suk’s ability to present such valuable information to a variety of people with such ease. An ability that consistantly motivates me to improve my own condition, awareness, and that of others.
