Give yourself a chance to “consciously breathe”

Ilchi Lee tells that many scientists now agree that chronic stress responses can lead to disease. Although some situations and environments produce more stress than others, it is always helpful to remember the tools that any individual can use, whatever the stress level of their circumstances. Our stress responses can be improved by strengthening our skills at regulating our emotions or governing the mind. Correct breathing enables us to better direct our minds, so it is critical for optimal health.

There is scarcely a person who does not know that the best way to quickly temper anger, decrease frustration, and calm jittery nerves is to simply stop everything and “take a deep breath.”

How you breathe, and whether you give yourself a chance to “consciously breathe” every day, can strongly influence your state of health. The breath is a simple but powerful part of our HT toolkit.
