Human relationships or our spirituality

According to our values and choices, sex can be an act of love or debasement. Mature sex is an art, a healing, true communication that unites the body and spirit. A powerful drive, sex has the potential to exert inappropriate influence over our judgment. Sex can be used to cause harm, as a means of controlling others or inflating the ego; it can become an absorbing habit—even an addiction—that leads to a disconnection from the rich texture of human relationships or our spirituality.

Ilchi Lee says that allow me to make a different point as well, about the meaning of “responsibility.” Often, when people hear this word, they think about their worst deed or the biggest mistake they have ever made. “Being responsible” means guilty acceptance of the consequences or punishment. This meaning of responsibility is often not helpful and may be harmful.

The true meaning of responsibility lies in accepting that you are the creator. It means understanding and accepting that you create your circumstances and your experience: “This is my life and I created this.” Responsibility does not mean passive acceptance or resignation, but dignity and authority.

Thus, your experience of sexuality is ultimately your own creation. Please create your sexual life consciously, in the image of your own grandest vision, to reflect your truest values and desires!

HT Guidelines on Sexuality

We each have the right to choose how we feel about and experience sex. Although cultural groups have laws about sexual practices, many of them controversial and subject to debate, sexual decisions should remain in the hands of the individual.

According to Ilchi Lee point of view there are many outdated notions about sex that make us feel needlessly guilty. In human history, a sense of shame and guilt about sex has somehow been implanted in our minds, whether we are aware of it or not. Overly moralizing standards have bound human concepts so that they have acted as significant impediments to the well-being of individuals. Astonishingly, there are still places in our society where sexual doctrines dictate lethal punishment for some expressions of sexuality.

Let’s get rid of our guilt about sex. Our nature is simply our nature, and there is no benefit in getting wrapped up in debates about “lower” or “higher.” All life begins with sex. Without sexual intercourse, none of us would be here. Depending on our value system and our attitudes, sex, a natural phenomenon, can make us smile blissfully, put a spring in our step, and make us happy.

Of course I am not advocating licentiousness or carelessness.

We must be aware of our sexual responsibilities. We may encounter situations where sexual feelings are not reciprocated. or have no outlet. We need maturity, wisdom, and skills to handle such circumstances.

The Brain Loves Sex

Sexuality is one of the most powerful energies we will ever experience. Sex can be described as passionate and animalistic, or as majestic, exalted, and sacred. For some, these perspectives may be “bookends” for the range of possible interpretations of sexuality. Yet even these views are too limited. Human Technology embraces sexuality as central to life, and intends to expand our experience, understanding, and application of this magnificent energy. As we relate more to sex as an experience of our spirit and not just of the senses, our expression of sexual energy in our lives can shift dramatically.

From a biological point of view, our capacity to desire sex— and to experience pleasure from it—is natural and deeply hardwired in our brains. Millions of years of evolution have given us a wonderfully sophisticated system of brain pathways and hormonal regulators that make us feel good and spur our rituals of attraction and union.

Neurologists say that even the emotion called love, strictly speaking, arises for the most part out of the activity of the brain. This is because the emotions that arouse love are caused by the actions of chemical substances secreted by the cerebrum. They say sexual desires are associated with the body’s chemistry such as dopamme and noradrenalm. It is the brain that loves sex.

Your experience of sex is both private and important to your well-being. I hope you will create conditions that align your sexuality with your health, your well-being, and your life purpose. I hope you will realize your power of choice, release guilt, and be aware of sexual responsibilities.

Give yourself a chance to “consciously breathe”

Ilchi Lee tells that many scientists now agree that chronic stress responses can lead to disease. Although some situations and environments produce more stress than others, it is always helpful to remember the tools that any individual can use, whatever the stress level of their circumstances. Our stress responses can be improved by strengthening our skills at regulating our emotions or governing the mind. Correct breathing enables us to better direct our minds, so it is critical for optimal health.

There is scarcely a person who does not know that the best way to quickly temper anger, decrease frustration, and calm jittery nerves is to simply stop everything and “take a deep breath.”

How you breathe, and whether you give yourself a chance to “consciously breathe” every day, can strongly influence your state of health. The breath is a simple but powerful part of our HT toolkit.

The Dahn Yoga Principles

Ilchi Lee cool water energy  and hot fire energy law flow within our bodies simultaneously. When the body is in balance, the cool water energy travels upward toward the head while the hot fire energy flows down to the lower abdomen, where it is stored. The underlying principle behind this natural flow of energy is called Su-seung-hwa-gang (Water Up, Fire Down),

We can readily observe examples of Su-seung-hwa-gang in the natural world. Think about the cycle of v\ater on earth. When the fire energy of the sun shines down on the earth, the v.ater energy of rivers, lakes, and oceans rises to form clouds.

Consider how plants obtain the ‘ energy They receive fire energy from the sun shining down on their leaves. while drawing the water energy up through their roots from moisture in tne ground. With this cycle of energy, plants and trees grow and bear fruit, n tne u inter. When the ground is too frozen for plants to draw up water, iea-.es ~a to the ground and no fruit is produced. Life itself goes into dormancy unt :ne natural cycle of energy is once again possible.

Su-seung-hwa-gang is the core principle for human health. When the human body is in balance, the cool water energy travels upward toward the head along the back side of the body, while the hot fire energy flows down the front side of the body to the lower abdomen. This constitutes a complete

health-related methods of Human Technology

All other organ systems. This state is the normative goal of all health-related methods of Human Technology. Proper breathing, meditation, meridian exercises, acupuncture, acupressure, and moxibustion are all essentially techniques to create the flow of “Water Up, Fire Down” in our bodies.

categorized as Human Technology. We can make use of a variety of approaches including breath-work, meditation, exercise, diet, and dance, to bring balance to our bodies and minds. Of these, breath-work may be the simplest method. This is because breathing is something that everyone does. It is not a question of whether you do it, but how.

Respiration takes place in a cycle of four steps: inhalation, rest, exhalation, and then pause. In breathing, we feel most comfortable when we exhale and our breathing stops for a moment before we inhale, and we feel least comfortable when we inhale and then hold our breath before exhaling.

The way we breathe can be an indicator of the level of emotional or physical well-being that we are experiencing in that moment. Conversely, we can actually produce well-being through our breath. Just breathing correctly can help us a great deal in maintaining our health. “Good breathing” is the most basic of basics. I have seen many cases in which a person’s health was restored just by correcting the breathing.

The Limbic System, Land of Emotions

Below the neo-cortex are sub-cortical structures including the thalamus, hypothalamus, and various mid-brain structures. These sub-cortical structures are involved with basic life support, hormonal regulation, and primal emotion. They play a crucial role in connecting the body to the neo-cortex. A group of structures, referred to as the limbic system, is associated with the complex aspects of emotional expression. It is involved with assigning emotional value or content to various objects and experiences and with expressing these emotions as external behavior.

In short, the cerebral limbic system is the domain of the emotions and appetites. Appetite for food and sex, and emotions of joy, anger, grief, and love arise within the limbic system. The mechanism for controlling the five senses is also a function of the limbic system. With rapid development of the neo-cortex in humans, the cerebral limbic system has decreased in size, and is comparatively less developed than in animals such as dogs or cats.

When a dog lowers its tail in front of a stronger dog or wags its tail with joy, the limbic system is at work. The well-known flight or fight response is also a function of the limbic system. If we could learn to utilize the capabilities of our brain’s limbic system, we would be better equipped to control emotions, generating an appropriate and constructive emotional reaction to all situations. Eye-Hond Infinity Coordination Exercise

For Eye-Hond Infinity coordination exercise Prof. Ilchi Lee writes that Raise your thumb (pointing upward) to eye level, holding it at a point in between your eyes and away from your face. Gently bend your elbow so that your arm is not stiff. Trace, in the air, the shape of the infinity sign (a figure eight) with your thumb. Move slowly and deliberately, with full concentration on the movement of your thumb. Hold your head still and follow your thumb with just your eyes. Repeat at least three times. Repeat with your other hand.

You can use both hands. Clasp your hands together with your thumbs crossing on top. Focus on the intersection of your thumbs and trace the shape of the infinity sign.

If you work at a desk for a long time and often feel shoulder and neck stiffness, this is a good exercise to relieve some of the tension and will also help during learning about Dahn Hak.

cycles of movements and patterns

Therefore, when a Life Current passes over the surface of the sea of nothingness and creates a pattern of waves, it not only creates an informational pattern that is used to build the world of shapes and forms but it alerts us to the existence of the sea itself. Therefore, through the flow of Life Current, nothingness is revealed, somethingness is produced, and nothingness is recognized as the source of all somethingness. This is the grand harmony, a ceaseless cosmic motion. This wind of life upon the sea of nothingness is sometimes termed Yuln’yo in the Korean spiritual traditions.

Among these endless cycles of movements and patterns,  Prof Ilchi Lee tells that some of which are expressed in material shapes and forms, can anything be singled out as the truth? Truth, in actuality, is the whole process by which nothingness and somethingness are revealed by the flow of the Life Current, differentiated but connected. The process itself is the truth, not separate, observable steps within the process. The movements of the Life Current leave a residue on our minds, and out of those residues that our minds can recognize, we convert an even smaller fraction of that into words and languages in a process of simplification.

Therefore, a truth that has been intellectually digested and expressed through words can only be a shadow of the silhouette of the original truth. It is but the most minute traces of the truth. This applies even to the words I am writing now, to all the sacred texts ever written, and to the sayings of all the great enlightened teachers in the history of humankind. If you could bring together all the words ever generated in an attempt to explain the truth, it would be no more momentous than a yawn. This is the stark limitation of language.

The truth is the movement, the process occurring right at this moment. Therefore, although you can become one with the truth, you cannot intellectually recognize or explain it. To see and recognize the truth, you have to separate yourself from the truth. To explain the truth in words, you have to separate yourself from the recognition. This is why a truth that has been wordsmithed is only a shadow of the barest silhouette of the truth. A yawn would contain more truth than that.

Heaven is analogous to the realm of nothingness

Heaven is analogous to the realm of nothingness. Earth to the material ingredients needed to give expression to a pattern, which is created by the Life Current, or Human. Of course, the term Heaven, as it is used here, does not refer to the blue sky above us, Earth to the soil under your feet, or Human to you or me. I use these terms to facilitate an intellectual understanding of cosmic truth.

The Life Current is the main actor in creation, and the omnipresent divine reality in existence. Life Current, in physical terms, is a particle without mass or size, and in functional terms, it is a particle that carries thought. Since it doesn’t have mass, it doesn’t have gravity, and since it is without mass, it is not trapped within space; this allows it to travel from the realm of zero to the infinitely variable world of material output, and back.

When we are able to feel this flow of Life Current,  Ilchi Lee writes that we name it Ki. Through this current, much information is created, information that acts as a blueprint that directs the flow of energy that acts on matter to bring an image into a three-dimensional reality, into a world of shapes and forms. These images come together to fill the world we live in.

The realm of nothingness over which the Life Current flows is a world of no preconditions. It is a world of absolute freedom and true creation. Nothingness or emptiness cannot be recognized or perceived as such. Just as we hang a “Caution” sign on a transparent glass door, we have to etch a pattern on this nothingness in order to perceive its existence. It is through the etched pattern that we not only recognize the pattern but realize the existence of the glass. Imagine a pool of transparent water, still as a vacuum, without activity. Then a breeze blows across it and causes ripples to move across its surface. Only then can we feel the coolness of the wind and discern the existence of the pool of water.
