We live surrounded by a sea of information. It is difficult to find one or two droplets of fresh water, or good and helpful information, in an ocean of salt water. It would be a tiring, if not futile mission. However, Ilchi Lee says that let’s change our tactics for a moment. How great would it be if we could make the few droplets of good information find us, instead of the other way around? Our primary source of information is through our interchanges with other people. Therefore, the first condition to receiving good, productive information is to develop good relationships with others. In this vein, a smile and courtesy are two primary tools for information gathering. An open heart, a heightened sensitivity to others, a comfortable and natural smile, and a trustworthy and solid presence are all key to inviting good information to come your way. The second condition for becoming a magnet for good information is a philosophy for living. This philosophy is a system of living values by which the brain can correctly judge which information is good or bad.
During Dahnhak when our brain operates according to a warped value system, then our brain cannot perform to its fullest potential. This is akin to loading an incorrect program on a computer and then asking it for a correct answer. This will only decrease the performance of the computer, create errors in the system, and precipitate a full system crash. An unproductive value system in the brain will create an unproductive brain. An unaware value system in the brain will create an unaware brain. Even worse, a distorted, unhealthy value system in the brain will create an unhealthy brain. However, from the point of the view of the brain, it has met an unproductive, unaware, and unhealthy master. Actually, there are no unproductive, unaware, or unhealthy brains to begin with, only unproductive, unaware, or unhealthy situations.
